Hiya,
For what it's worth, my 7 or so years of power chair experience has enabled my independence and added a lot of fun and adventure to my life. It also makes regular exercise even more essential. Regarding makes/models/size etc., it no doubt depends on your level of ability (e.g. whether you want to recline or not) but mine is a so-called 'portable' model. That is, it is still fairly robust and sturdy but can be collapsed to fit into a normal car boot. This allows me great flexibility - as long as there's a spunky young man (or a slide-board and carer) around to help me into a car seat. Oh, how I love sitting up there in the front of the car like everyone else!
Good luck and all the best
